Karen was born in South Charleston, WV on May 29, 1962 to the late Bette and Thomas Richardson. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Richardson.
Karen was a clerk at Shuman, McCuskey and Slicer with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church, Sissonville. She enjoyed crafting with the children at church. Karen was kind hearted, very loving, giving, and a caring person. She especially enjoyed being a rescue dog mom, stopping anytime to rescue animals along the road. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who loved travelling.
Left to cherish her memory are loving husband of 32 years, David McClanahan; daughter, Holly Higginbotham (Kevin); son, Michael David McClanahan (Valerie); sister, Teri Rhinehart; brother, Tim Richardson (Julie); grandchildren, Collin Graley, Zach Snodgrass, Myles McClanahan, Lincoln McClanahan, and Laikyn Higginbotham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at Crossroads Community Church, 328 Martins Branch Rd, Charleston, WV 25301, with Pastor Ben Flowers officiating. Burial will follow after a short luncheon, in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. Visitation will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter, 1248 Greenbrier St, Charleston, WV 25311.
