Jacqueline Sue “Jackie” Mallett, 76, of Nitro, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Hubbard House West. She was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Poughkeepsie, NY, the daughter of Jasper Phillips and Sylvia Tittle Phillips (Marcum), both deceased. Jackie was retired from Rhone Poulenc, formerly Union Carbide, where she worked in the lab. She was a very social person who enjoyed simply talking with family and friends for hours on end. She loved dancing and listening to music, especially the songs of Elvis Presley. In recent years, she could be found in the constant company of her little dog, Sophie. Jackie is survived by her son Jeffrey (Joy) Mallett of Sumter, SC, daughter Jodi (Alan) Young of Nitro, WV, grandchildren Sara (William) Anderson and Benjamin Mallett, both of Sumter, granddaughter Jessica Young of Nitro, step-grandson Jason Young of Charleston, and sister Dolores “Peaches” Wyckoff of St. Albans, WV. Also surviving is her former husband, Elbert Mallett, of Jasper, GA. Services are scheduled for 1pm Monday, November 13, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV 25313.
