Gene Looney

Gene was born in Looneyville, WV to the late Orlan D. and Pauline G. (Boggs) Looney. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Looney; siblings, Billie June Starcher, Betty Jo Donalson, Franklin Looney, Alice Carol Calebs, and James Looney.

Gene retired from General Motors Corporation as Claim Manager, Detroit, Michigan with 40+ years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Spencer, the Fraternal Order of the Elks, Charleston, and the Charleston Moose Club. He was an Army Veteran. Gene was a very creative wood worker, and especially enjoyed taking care of his lawn and garden.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 31 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Looney; daughters, Mary Hager (Jim), Robin Howell (Jerry); son, David Looney; daughter-in-law, Cindy Looney; sister, Mary Hall; and brother, Danny Looney; grandchildren, Christine Kuss (Matt), Zachary Hager (Kathryn), Kaitlyn Looney, Chelsea Looney; great-grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Kuss; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be 2-6pm Monday, April 2, 2018 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV. Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the funeral home with Celebrant H.R. Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to: St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
