Bailey Ann was born in Pennsboro, WV on January 16, 1932, she died at 92 on January 16, 2024. After graduating from high school, Bailey attended WVU where she got her teaching degree. While at WVU she met Harry Mills and on Feb 21,1953 they were married. They had two children, Susan and David.
Bailey was actively involved in her church, the Quilters, the Gideon Auxiliary, and the Emmaus Community. Bailey taught Home Economics at Bramwell and South Charleston High Schools. She always sponsored a chapter of the Future Homemakers of American and served on the state level. Bailey volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. She loved music, playing both the piano and organ for church services and her family’s delight.
Bailey is survived by her children Susan Jackson, David (Robin) Mills, her grandchildren, Samantha, Theresa, Jamie, and Carol Ann, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her parents, James & Theresa Hogue, her brother, Jimmy, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and Percy Lilly, and her grandson, Timothy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 21 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1401 W. Washington St, Charleston, WV at 3:00 pm with arrangements by Tyler Mountain Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Donald Biram, with eulogy by longtime family friend, Chaplain Richie McNeil.
