She was 87.
Anne was born at home in Rockford, Michigan, to the late Lloyd and Nola (Hutchings) Seeley. To her parents, sisters, and brother she was known as “Annie.”
She loved family and was always “ready to go” for family events and reunions with her siblings. She was a faithful and supportive wife who served with her husband Vernon in numerous Christian school ministries. She taught piano to hundreds of students, directed dramatic Christmas and patriotic programs, sewed costumes, and helped wherever there was a need. She was a devoted, loving, and enthusiastic mother to her four children: Michelle, Milissa, Milanie, and Michael. She was always there for them to listen and support. She loved her grandchildren and lived for summer vacations when all her “kids” could be at “Bama’s” house to swim in her pool and eat dozens of loaves of banana bread and sugar cookies that she baked for them. Each evening also included ice cream, Hershey’s syrup, with mini M&M’s. The Fourth of July was always an event with cookouts, a trip to the Lakeland Flying Tigers stadium, and fireworks. She welcomed each great grandchild with love and pride.
Anne knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and her wish was that family and friends would also come to know Him as their Savior. Whenever someone came to her home, she shared the gospel and her faith with them. At any time of crisis or sorrow, she could be found sitting at her piano playing hymns asking Jesus to soothe all care and hurt. She loved singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday School and primary church.
The wife of the late Vernon Francis Hammond for fifty nine years, she is survived by four children: Michelle (Ron) Hammond Hamilton, Milissa (Edward) Hammond Riley, Milanie (Grant) Hammond Mulford, Michael (Christine) Hammond; thirteen grandchildren: Beth, Brandon (Jessica), Bryce (Jaynie), Rebekah (Alex), Charity, Rachel (George), Brett, Bradley, Josh, James (Sofi), Jessica, Micah, and Julia; and seven great-grandchildren: Colton, Alaina, Nora, Makayla, Molly, Leo, and one on the way. Sisters Kay Seeley Cavner, Jan (JB) Seeley, and her brother Tom Seeley along with many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, at the Pederson Funeral Home located on 127 Monroe Street, Rockford, Michigan. Viewing and Visitation is from 9:00-11:00 followed by a service at 11:00. Interment at the Rockford Cemetery will follow the service.
