She was born September 14, 1941 to George W. and Katherine (Bennett) Paul in Peoria, she married Edward Spencer on March 2, 1959 in Pekin. He passed away on August 9, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; three sisters and two grandsons, Ronnie Ulmer and Aiden Brooks-Spencer.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Denny Nelson) Spencer of Peoria, Edward “Bub” L. (Crystal) Spencer Jr. of East Peoria, Carolyn (Terry) Hoerr of Pekin, Robert (Desiree Brooks) Spencer of Morton, Kenneth (Lisa) Spencer of Peoria; one step-daughter, Barbara Spencer of Peoria; one grandson, although she raised him as her own, Russell (Ashley) Spencer of Farmington; one sister, Nancy (Gerald) Glory of Enid, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Rose was a laundress at Proctor Hospital for 26 years. She enjoyed many different hobbies outside of work. She was skilled at knitting and sewing. She would watch the game show network and work on puzzles.
In her early years, she would go camping with her family and dancing with Edward. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
More importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
Her memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. There will be no service. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
