Levi L. Hall

Born April 21, 1930 in Stanford, Kentucky to Albert and Gracie (King) Hall, he married Mildred Robinson on September 17, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda King of East Peoria and Connie Hall of Gaston, South Carolina; one son, David Hall of Manassas, Virginia; one daughter by a previous marriage, Susan Bryn of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Brooke (Bob) White of Knightdale, North Carolina and Matthew (Jennifer) Metcalf of Irmo, South Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Alexa Metcalf, Aiden Metcalf, Eliana White and Max White and three sisters, Jewel Vandiver of Selmer, Tennessee, Joyce Ann (Mike) Hall-Marfutto of Sparta, Tennessee and Betty Grubb of Lakeland, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James (Phyllis) Hall.

Levi proudly served in the United States Army for four years during the Korean War. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for a time. His military service left a lasting impression on him and he raised and lowered the American flag daily at his home.

After his time in the Army, he worked for thirty years at Caterpillar, Inc. as a machinist, then later as a scrap train driver. After retiring in 1985, Levi found himself driving a school bus for 23 years. Driving was a passion for him. His prior work experience included operating a city bus in Louisville, Kentucky as well as an ambulance and a milk truck.

When not driving, Levi could be found tending to his vegetable garden. He was a dedicated church-goer and regularly donated blood to the American Red Cross.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at REVIVE Church in East Peoria with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Robert Finley will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in East Peoria, where military rites will be accorded. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
