Born January 26, 1933 in Lovington to David and Anna (Cochran) Gould, he married Karin Elaine Peterson on April 15, 1966 in Creve Coeur.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years; five children, Dorinda (Dennis) Shannon of Pekin, Kevin (Patti) Gould of Germantown Hills, Martin (Shelly) Gould of North Pekin, Laura (Jack Smits) Morgan of Louisville, Colorado and Bruce (Kathy Drenick) Morgan of Montrose, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Chris (Jessie) Shannon, Brian Gould, Corey Shannon, Heidi (Derek) Curless, Ryan (Jami) Gould, Andrew Gould and Sam Smits and nine great-grandchildren, Stella, Isla, Thaden, Scarlett, Troy, Owen, Liam, Asher and Haven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kristine Morgan; one grandson, Tommy Gould and three sisters, Jean Arnold, Jane Whelan and Judy Bach.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and member of Creve Coeur American Legion and a 40 year member of the Creve Coeur Lions Club.
He had worked at Excel Foundry and Machine in Pekin for 38 years last working as a production manager before retiring in 1995. He had also served 20 years on the Creve Coeur School District 76 School Board.
Jim enjoyed working around his home and maintaining his yard. His greatest enjoyment was spending quality time with his family.
He was a longtime member of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur where he had served on the church council and taught Sunday school for many years.
His memorial service will be at noon on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Rev. Jan Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military rites will provided by the United States Army. Private inurnment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
