He was born July 27, 1954 in Spring Valley to Leland and Delores (Howard) Smith, he married Cassy Whetzel on December 28, 1982 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Heather (Andy) Thomas of Texas and Deanna Smith of Creve Coeur; one son, Benjamin Smith of Creve Coeur; five grandchildren; one sister, Vicki (Jim) Swanson of Princeton and two brothers, Lenard (Arlene) Smith of Washington and Jeff (Mary) Smith of Kingston Mines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmy Smith.
Gordon worked for Airland Transfer as a truck driver, he retired in 2020.
He spent his free time working on lawnmowers. He loved spending time with his family and hanging out with his friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
