Carl R. Ulmer

Born March 24, 1936 in Peoria to Karl and Audrey (Churchill) Ulmer, he married Sarah Louise Clark on May 20, 1960 in Eureka. She died April 24, 2020 in Metamora. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Davis; one granddaughter, Stacy Marie Ulmer; one grandson, Ron Ulmer, Jr.; one brother, Robert and one sister, Sandy.

Surviving are one son, Ron (Jeanne) Ulmer of Creve Coeur; two daughters, Kathy (Bill) Kelch of Metamora and Vickie (Steve) Howard of Sunnyland; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Carl served in the United States Air Force as a photo intelligence officer.

He had worked as inspector and in assembly at Caterpillar, Inc. until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.

Carl enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, woodworking, doing yardwork, tinkering and drinking a cold beer. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.

His private funeral and visitation will be Friday, January 29, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Burial will be at Fon du Lac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. Military rites will be provided by the United States Air Force and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
