Francis E. McAllister

Francis“Fran” Elizabeth McAllister, 88, passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2023, in Dixon, WY. Fran was born on December 2, 1934, to Charles and Elizabeth Knox in Miami, Arizona. Her early life was spent in Globe, Arizona, where she completed her high school education. After graduation, she embarked on a new journey when she attended nursing school. She met Paul McAllister while he was in the Air Force stationed in Arizona, and they were united in marriage on December 17, 1966. The couple made their home in various locations including New Mexico and Nevada before settling in Dixon, WY in 1972. Although Fran had various jobs in her lifetime, most will remember her for feeding the students and faculty at the Little Snake River Valley School in Baggs. Fran had a passion for cooking, and it was her homemade rolls that were often requested by everyone for just about every social event. She loved bowling, music, reading, hunting, fishing, quilting, knitting, crochet, and sharing her home cooked meals with family and friends. Fran is survived by her twin sister, Elizabeth Francis Hansen (Dennis) of Payson, Az; her husband, Paul, and their children: Charlene Wilson (Richard) of Rawlins; Paul Dean Jr. of Destin, FL; Vickie LeBrun (Andy) of Great Falls, MT; Michael McAllister (Rachel) of Baggs, Eric McAllister (Katherine) of Baggs; 14 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. Knox and Elizabeth F. Knox, brother Sonny Knox; daughter Catherine Dianne; and son Curtis Wayne. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2023 at The Little Snake River Museum - McPherson's Building in Savery, WY. A reception will be held immediately following services.
