He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Zernott Gauthreaux, his children, Stephanie (William) Macaluso and Edward (Jamie) Gauthreaux, and six grandchildren: Kailey, Hunter, Miriam, Nathan, Lucas and Natalie.
He was born and raised in Houma, LA and resided in Mandeville, LA. He always said that his greatest accomplishments were his two children, and his grandchildren, whom he adored and cherished with every fiber of his being. They were the lights of his life.
He was a proud graduate of South Terrebonne High School and Nicholls State University, and enjoyed spending time with his large family and group of friends. Cooking was his passion and he excelled at making jambalaya in his enormous cast iron pot. He was truly one-of-a-kind, with a larger than life personality, and he never met a stranger. He had a generous spirit and would be the first person to lend a helping hand or “give the shirt off his back” to someone in need.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ronald Gauthreaux, Sr. and Norma Quintana Gauthreaux, his siblings, Ronald Jr., Wade and Cynthia, his sister-in-law Lora, his brother-in-law Michael Leicher, and his niece, Hallie.
He also leaves behind his brothers: Norman (Mary), Michael (Pam), Gerard, Daniel, Donald, Miles (Robin); his sisters: Janet, and Carolyn Leicher; his in-laws: Kay, and David and Marceline Rosenthal, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends who loved him and will dearly miss him.
On Thursday, November 7, visitation begins at 10:00 AM until the funeral Mass at 12:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433. Interment will follow the service in Mandeville Cemetery.
