Chad Smith, age 41, passed away on November 10, 2023, due to complications related to substance use disorder. Despite his challenges, he will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, creativity, and love for animals.
Born on June 23, 1982, Chad had a natural talent for writing and storytelling. His creative mind allowed him to craft beautiful narratives that captivated those around him. Whether through poetry, short stories, or even simple conversations, he had a way with words that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to hear his tales.
Beyond his literary prowess, Chad was a skilled mechanic. He possessed an innate ability to understand the inner workings of machines and could fix just about anything that came his way. His dedication to his craft was unmatched, and he took great pride in ensuring that every vehicle he worked on left his shop in perfect condition.
However, it was his genuine love for animals that truly defined Chad. He had an extraordinary connection with all creatures, big and small. His home was a sanctuary for abandoned and injured animals, where he provided them with love, care, and a second chance at life. Whether it was nursing a wounded bird back to health or adopting a stray dog, his compassion knew no bounds.
Despite his struggles, Chad always remained loyal to his loved ones. He was a steadfast friend, always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. His unwavering support and genuine concern for others made him a cherished presence in those who knew him.
Chad has left behind a legacy of creativity, compassion, and loyalty in his passing. His decision to be an organ donor has given others a chance at life. Though he may no longer be with us, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Pat Smith. His aunts and uncles Phyllis Jacques (Barry), Nancy Smith (Jaz), Mike Smith (Eliza), Judy Castigliola, and Mike Easley (Jinx). Countless cousins. Preceded in death by grandparents Virgil and Louise Easley, Dr. Carl B. and Perla Smith, and Uncle Frank Castigliola.
