Josephine G. Stark

March 19 or 21, 1920 to October 22, 2012

Josephine Stark, a Santa Fe native, passed away on October 22nd in West Covina California, where she spent her final years. She was surrounded by her immediate family and long time car giver when she passed on peacefully to be with the Lord.

Born to Antonio and Antonia Gallegos of Santa Fe, Josephine grew up in a tight knit family in a home that sat on the property that now makes up the LA Posada Hotel. On March 19, 1956, she married Fred West, also a native Santa Fean, who she met while working as a cashier at Woodworth’s 5 and Dime. They were blessed with their only child, Louis Fred West in 1959.

Josephine was preceded in death by her first husband Fred West, her second husband Cecil Stark, as well as her brothers Manuel and Lalo Gallegos her sisters Mary Piatt and Louise Deaton, and her beloved sister in-law Susie Klemos. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Sandar West, her grandchildren Amanda, Christopher and Katrina, her sister Isabel Whitlock numerous nieces and nephews, and countless family members from the Deaton, Piatt, Urioste and Gallegos families. The burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina Hills, CA on Monday October 29th at 11:00 AM.
