Rory Allen Brush

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Rory Allen Brush of Courtice, Ontario, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed unexpectedly on November 14, 2024. Born in Essex, Ontario to his adoring parents, Rudolph (Randy) and Hazel Brush, he was the oldest of six children. Rory is survived by his wife, Marianne Miller. Loving father to, Courtney (Matt), Jeremy (Natalie), Jamie (Tamanna), Kyle; and his grandchildren, Dayna, Lilith, Ellora, Jordan and predeceased by Anneke and Rayne. He was beloved by siblings, Randy (Cheryl), Cary (Carrie), Shari (John), Darryl (Cathy), and Shawn (Denise). He was also loved by all his cousins, nieces, nephews, his many friends and clients.

Rory moved from his hometown of Essex to Toronto to attend college and to start his outstanding financial career. As a fumbling new kid in town, who had never lived on his own, he had the good fortune of meeting Karen. While learning how to be adults and problem-solvers, they became lifelong friends and parents to his two eldest children. In the latter part of his life, he was fortunate to have met and loved his incredible wife Marianne, the mother of his two younger children. Their union forged an even stronger family bond, filled with mutual love, support and respect, embracing their children and grandchildren. Rory was an engaging gentle giant who would charm everyone he met. He always made time to be there when anyone needed him. All it took was one of his children asking for the newest video game or a grandchild looking for dessert before dinner, and Rory would cave. You were hard pressed to hear the word “No” come out of his mouth often; as he was a devoted man to the people, he loved most. Throughout his 40 years in the financial sector, Rory prided himself on his work ethic. His parents instilled in him the value of a job well done. He was very honoured to be able to help family, friends, and clients achieve their financial goals and aspirations...Especially if it was over a good cup of Tim’s and a piece of Marianne’s coffee cake. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy. You could typically find Rory in his cowboy boots and cowboy hat, sitting on the front porch. We will miss sitting beside him, but he will be with us forever. In those quiet moments of reflection, amid the early morning rays of sun and the star-studded skies at night, we will carry Rory with us everywhere we go. Letting his guiding light help lead our way through life.

We pray that Rory’s transitional journey will be filled with peace and love, as he finds his way back home. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome, in memory of Rory, to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or Autism Canada.
