She passed away suddenly on Denman Island, BC March 31, 2020.
Victoria is survived by her very proud father; Cory and loving mother; Marnie, and Olaf Larsen; her future fiancé (he had the ring), and very best companion; Griffin; her 10 yr old German Shepherd.
Victoria is also survived by her grandmother; Dianne Dirksen, Great Aunt; Lynne McNiel, Aunts & Uncles; Steve Thomas (Lori), Sharon Savage, Shawn Dirksen, Kelly Thomas, Teri Marreck (Steve), Garnet Dirksen, and many cousins, and extended families, and so many friends; primarily the ones who were just like her family; Merle, Meagan (Aaron), Morgan (Adam), Hunter & Willow. Victoria is predeceased by her Granny; Marian Thomas, Grandfathers; Gordon Thomas and Frank Dirksen.
Victoria was so well known for her kindness, her generosity, her love for nature, and her huge heart warming smile. Victoria was extremely athletic; she participated in the Provincials for long distance running, played many years of soccer throughout her school years, and she greeted every day with a run, hike or walk. When she first moved to Vancouver island, she was working in a law office, was a personal fitness trainer, ran a boot camp, and spin classes; such a hard ass teacher (I know, I took a class or two). In recent years she was the welcoming face that greeted every diner at the Alpine Café in Whistler, the Gumboot Café in Roberts Creek, and the Earth Club Factory Guesthouse on Denman Island.
Her greatest past times were with her Griffin. Griffin and Victoria were very well known in every community that they ever wandered. Who said dogs are man’s best friend?
How could someone so beautiful, be in so much pain. The smiles, the laughter, and the dances in the rain. A “good morning” to every person on her morning run. A salute to Mother Nature, watching the setting sun. Cheering up people to shadow her own inner fears. Sporting a brave face and masking the tears.
Golden Earth Girl she truly was, and Golden Earth Girl, she will always be.
