His wife, Janet, was the center of his universe. His sons Josh and Scott were his pride and joy. He valued his family more than anything.
Rick was best known for his love of Rock and Roll, epic barbecues, and volcanic chili. He was respectful, kind, generous, caring and fun-loving. He was also a very determined and slightly stubborn Dane. He was a stoic man of few words, you listened when he spoke.
Rick loved wood-working, building, his tools, his many measuring tapes, sunshine, his lawn, the Blue Jays, the Maple Leafs, and Schooner Hill.
He was fortunate enough to spend his final years in Courtenay BC, a place he loved; and his final hours surrounded by family, the people he loved.
Rick is predeceased by his parents Carrol and Helen Hansen and his beloved dog, Skye. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his sons Josh and Scott, his siblings Karen Hansen Doucette (Bob), Kathy Atkinson (Gary), Rod Hansen, Doug Hansen (Patti), Andrew Hansen and David Hansen, and his many extended family, friends and neighbours.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
