It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear father, Michael (Luch) Gregory Luciani, who left us peacefully on January 6, with family by his side, in his 80th year, at Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay, British Columbia.
Mike was a kind man of few words with a big heart and a strong work ethic. His passion for gardening, football (go Giants), fishing, crosswords and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.
Mike was employed for approximately 40 years at the Thorold Paper Mill and worked his way up the chain to a position in environmental/water quality control. He was dedicated to, and very proud of his work and his two children.
He is survived by his daughter Maren Luciani and son Kristian Luciani. Mike is also survived by the mother of his children, Barbara Luciani, his brother Fred Luciani and sisters Alda Luciani-Brant, Roseann Luciani and Dianne Rush. He was the beloved and devoted son of the late Angelo and Rosina Luciani and is also predeceased by brothers Tony Luciani, Joe Luciani, Ron Luciani, Ted Luciani and sisters Lucy Murray and Pauline Hickman. He was a loyal friend to many and will also be warmly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
As per Mike’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. A small social gathering for family and friends will be held this summer and will be advertised in advance.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Glacier View Lodge for making Mike feel at home and for their kindness, compassion and excellent care in the days leading up to his passing.
In loving memory of Mike, please consider making a donation to Glacier View Lodge.
