Matthew Charles Embree

October 5, 1970 – October 26, 2024

Matthew left this world suddenly on Saturday October 26th. He leaves behind to mourn his beloved Mother, Val Gordon (her husband Tom Gordon) His sisters Milena Spratt (Chris) Melissa Ingram(Darcy) his two nieces Alisha Embree and Brittany Naswell. He also leaves his son Sam Robert Charles Embree of Victoria. His father Sam Embree (Eva) His half brother David of Vancouver. He was predecease by his half sister Robin Smith of Hamilton Ontario.

He also leaves behind several Aunties and cousins and an extended family in Ontario.

Matthew was born in Powell River and moved with his family to the Merville area when he was six and he attended school here. If you met Matt once you were his friend. He would do anything for you. He had very little but what he did have he would share. He loved to fish, loved the ocean, liked to hunt which he tried to do each year. He could take a walk in the forest and tell you all about the trees and flora and fauna. He spent time in Bella Bella and lived for a long time in Bamfield where he was a volunteer firefighter. Matthew then lived for some time in Tofino and finally returned to the Comox Valley.

Matthew will be laid to rest at the Civic Cemetery on November 8th at 1 pm with a gathering of remembrance following. The following day November 9th there will be a celebration of life at the Merville Hall.

His mom, sisters, nieces and son along with their partners will miss him every moment of every day the rest of their lives.
