Mavis Lorraine Scott spent her young years in Toronto, and later in Woodville Ontario where she helped out at her father's general store. Many joyous summers were spent with relatives at the family cottage on Kahshe Lake. After training as a stenographer she worked in the USA for a time.
She met Brian Goodacre at age 24 and they were soon married. Her four boys were born in Toronto and Montreal, and the young family continued the cottage tradition in the Laurentians of Quebec.
Sadly the marriage ended but Lori started a new phase of life when she married Michael Pearson and went to Alberta. Following her lead, all four boys eventually lived in Edmonton at various times. She re-developed her excellent clerical skills and became a valued staff member for many years at the University of Alberta.
Lori's father died, her mother moved in, and in 1989 they took early retirement and moved to Comox. They loved their Vancouver Island life but suddenly in 1997 Michael died, then in 2003 her mother.
Always esteemed by friends, relatives and co-workers, Lori had close relationships which steadied her through times of trouble, and there was much enjoyment as well through her later years. She stayed active and independent, getting around in her car, hiking, taking trips, staying in touch and quietly delighting in her water view.
She is survived by sons Alan (Dianne), Ian (Linda), Ross (Jin), and Hugh (Karen), grandchildren Lynn, Evan, Mark, Dana, and Niki, brother Gerry Scott (Maryanne), and predeceased by her parents John and May Scott. Her passing is indeed a sad event and she will be missed by many.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 1:30pm. Please contact the funeral home to join us in remembering Lori.
