Ed was born in the Fraser Valley in Mission, BC. Armed with youthful enthusiasm and a keen business sense, he began his business career selling encyclopedias across Canada. Several years and many successful business ventures later he settled in the Comox Valley, bought what was then known as the E&B Market and, together with his brother Ken, turned it into a popular going concern.
Blessed with a natural curiosity and an innate skill for how things worked, Ed was able to fix just about anything. If he couldn’t find the right part, he’d make it himself! He also had an enviable green thumb and spent many gratifying hours in his garden. When he wasn’t tending his vegetables, his insatiable love for the outdoors took him on countless adventures. In fact, one would be hard-pressed to find a photo of him without at least a canoe or a campfire in the background.
He loved his family deeply and enjoyed sharing his life experiences and nuggets of wisdom. He also treasured the friendships he made within his coffee groups during his forty-five years in the Comox Valley. Oh, the stories…
Ed is predeceased by his mother, father and sisters Phyllis and Marlene. He is survived by his brother Ken (Laureen), sister Lois, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family who will all miss him dearly.
There will be a small gathering for immediate family only. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
