Art was born in 1927 in Comox, BC to Keith and Edith (Percival) McKenzie. Art was an avid outdoorsman whose career took him throughout BC working first for the BC Power Commission and later the Ministry of Water Resources. In 1948, he met and married the love of his life Patricia Poole. In 1982 Art retired. He and Pat later settled back in the Comox Valley at their beloved Point Homes property.
Art loved his family and friends. With a quick wit, compassionate spirit and infectious smile he was never lost for words.
Art is predeceased by his wife Patricia, sister Doris, daughter in-law Bea, and son in-law Jim. Art is survived by; his four children, Ian (Bea), Paul (Bonnie), Marg (Jim), Elizabeth (Kim); 10 grandchildren, Lana (Shanon), Alynn (Miles), Joe (Ngaire), Clinton (Breanna), Chelsea, John, Heather, Rick (Brenda), Julia, Devon, Holly; 8 great grandchildren, Daniel, Sophia, Smith, Jackson, Cooper, Evan, Bryson and Tyler; numerous extended family, friends, and companion Glenda Gentleman.
Past Master of Hiram Lodge, and affiliated with Campbell River Lodge and Comox Valley Shrine Club #5.
Please join us in celebrating Art's memorable life at a service to be held at Piercy's Funeral Home June 29th at 1 o’clock p.m. Reception to follow. donations may be sent to the BC Cancer Agency.
