Ruth Anne Stickney, Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grammy and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Fountain Valley on August 8th 2011. She was born Ruth-Anne Schooly in Michigan. She loved to read and excelled in school. She worked at a local restaurant while in college, where she met Duane Stickney, after a brief romance, they married. Soon they were parents to four boys David, Ronald, Gordon and Roger. They moved to California in 1955, where she continued working in the restaurant business, as did Duane. Ruth Ann filled her life with family, wonderful friends, singing in choirs, sewing, knitting, cooking and her first love, reading. She volunteered as a Grandma reader; she would dress up in costume and read to children at church, Monroe Elementary and she also tutored a special neighbor Esbeidy. She is survived by her sons Ronald Stickney (Cindy) and Gordon Stickney (Cassie), Grandchildren Michelle, Amy, Derek and Travis. Great Granddaughter Alexis and her brother Ray of Illinois. Considerate, kind and funny until the end. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Funeral Service will be in the Chapel at Harbor Lawn-Mt Olive Memorial Park and Mortuary. 1625 Gisler Ave., Costa Mesa, CA, Sunday August 14th at 11 am. Luncheon will be served after the service at her home in Fountain Valley.
