Born in Coshocton, Ohio on November 24, 1951, Willis was the son of the late Francine (Lillibridge) and Willis Young I. He served his country in the United States Army in the early 70's and served his county as a Lieutenant for the Coshocton City Police Department in the early 80's. Willis went on to work at General Electric and the Ridgewood Local and Coshocton City School districts as a beloved bus driver and school employee, from which he retired in 2014.
Willis enjoyed morning coffee with his friends, motorcycles, billiards, westerns, football, going to the movies, and above all, spending time with his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his quick wit and strong will.
Willis is survived and will be dearly missed by his six children, Shawnta (Mark) Chaney of Newcomerstown, Wendy (Butch) Bowman of Warsaw, Willis (Ginger) Young III of New Concord, Duke Young of Coshocton, Jamie (Jordan) Henderson of West Lafayette, and Josh Young of Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren: Celeste Young, Willis Young IV, Bailey & Kelsey Bowman, Alyias Young, and Jack Henderson; three great-grandchildren: Remington, Phoenix, and Zinley Zimmer; brother Duke Young of Chili. He will also be missed by many dear friends and extended family.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Willis was preceded in death by his brother Allen Young and sister Barbara Shingleton.
A funeral service will be held for Willis on Tuesday, January 19, 2015 at Given-Dawson Funeral Home at 6 p.m. with Pastor Dail Parrish officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in care of Willis Young to PO Box 451, Warsaw, OH 43844.
