Richard was born on December 14, 1931, in Tuscarawas County, to the late Howard and Frances Miller) Corbett. He graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor’s degree and became a CPA. Richard was a member of the United States Navy from 1951 until 1955. On December 15, 1951, he married Dorothy Reichman, who preceded him in death on July 26, 1987. Richard spent most of his life working as a financial controller at Edmont. On June 25, 1988, he married Judy Graham. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church for 27 years, and also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He believed in giving back to the community and did so by working as the president of the Montgomery Foundation Board and by being active in the Roscoe Village Foundation and the Coshocton Foundation. He was on the Board of Mineral Fibers, the Board of RW Martin Company, and –for twelve years- the Coshocton Hospital Board.
He was a very compassionate and charitable man. His passions included mentoring his grandchildren, friends, and young people with his words of wisdom. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Richard also enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading, bird-watching, and story-telling.
Along with his wife, Richard is survived by two sons, Brian (Tonya) Corbett of Warsaw and Brad (Teresa) Corbett of Westerville, two daughters, Susan (Shawn) Martin of Kent and Lori Licini of Marina, California, two step-sons, Jim (Stephanie Newman) Glasure of Baltimore and John (Darla) Glasure of West Lafayette, nine grandchildren, Kyle, Corey, Noah, Emma, Josh, Jordan, Jake, Jordyn, and Ryan, and his special nieces and nephew, Pam, Phil, and Patti.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Given-Dawson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jonathan Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
