Peggy was born in Huntsville, Ohio, on May 16, 1924, to the late William Boyd and Mary Day (Hover) McCormick. Peggy attended the Ohio State University, where she met the love of her life and future husband, George Ours. They were married on June 16, 1946 and enjoyed their own love story for 66 years until George passed on October 5, 2012. Peggy was a proud housewife, mother, and a gracious hostess. She was an avid Bridge player and was the “Pie Queen” of her town. Peggy was a member of Roscoe United Methodist Church for over 20 years and she was also a member of the Phi Chi Sunday School group.
Peggy is survived by her three children: Marsha (David) Duling, Jerry (Deb) Ours, and Susan Ours; seven grandchildren: Kimberly, Denise, Amy, Carrie, Kathryn, James, and Devon; 7 great-grandchildren: Mikahla, Mark, Joshua, Andrew, Preston, Alex, and Spencer; three in-laws: Hanford and Norma Gunnerson and Joyce Sarver; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Peggy is preceded in death by her brother Albert McCormick.
A funeral service will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the funeral service, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
