Jerry L. Casey, age 76, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014. Jerry was born in Coshocton County on February 15, 1937, to the late Atlee and Marie (Andrews) Casey. He worked at Clows before retiring after 37 years.
Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Lafayette for over 40 years. He was a Sunday School Teacher for both youth and adults, he was also the Sunday School Superintend for many years; he was a trustee at the church, an usher, part of the men’s prayer breakfast group, and participated with the home visitations. Jerry enjoyed bowling, his life time average was in the 190’s and he bowled in several state competitions. He was very passionate about passing on his bowling skills to his grandsons. Jerry also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, hunting, golfing, gardening, and in his younger days, fast-pitch soft ball, basketball, baseball, and track.
On October 19, 1957, he married Kathryn Faye Casey who survives. He is also survived by his children, son, Lance (Elaine) Casey of West Lafayette; two daughters, Lori (Rich) Wheeler of West Lafayette and Rhonda (Richard) Youker of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren, April (Don) Riedel, C.J. (Justine) Wheeler, Colin (Heather) Wheeler, Chelsea Wheeler, Connor Wheeler, Austin Youker, and Evan Youker; two great-grandchildren, Rylie Wheeler and Brennen Wheeler; two sisters, Marilyn Eick of Keene and Joyce Gress of West Lafayette; three uncles, one aunt, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in West Lafayette at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Kraft officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the church on Monday, January 20, from 6-8:00 pm and on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral.
