James "Jim" Kinney passed away on March 2, 2023 at home after a long illness. Jim was born on February 17,1949 to John Kinney and Nadine Stiner Kinney. On Dec. 28,1968 he married Julie, his high school sweetheart. They recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. After graduating high school he enlisted in the US Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He served as an Interior Communications Technician 3rd class Petty Officer.
After returning home, he worked at Newell TV. He also worked at Coshocton High School, where he built their first audio visual studio. He was then offered a job with Cox Cable in Newark as a Staff Engineer and in charge of 22 cable systems. He then went on to become Jailer, Dispatcher and Roadman midnight shift at Coshocton Sheriff's Office. He was then offered a job at B&C Communications in Akron, as a Radio Technician. He repaired and programmed two-way radios. After working there 20 years he retired. He also held an Extra Class Amateur Radio license and a Masters Certified Electronics Technician license.
During his retirement, he loved woodworking, 3D printing, ham radio and anything computer. He also enjoyed spoiling his two cats, Digit & Data with treats.
He is survived by his wife Julie and two daughters Jenifer Minozzi and JoAnne(Charlie) Snyder. Three grandsons Dave, Mitch and Shane and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sister Patti, who we can't thank enough for all her help during his illness. Preceding him in death are his parents and grandson Matthew.
Per his wishes a cremation will take place. No visiting hours. A private graveside service will be at a later date.
