Helen graduated from Fresno High School in 1953, and went on to marry her husband Daniel Moody on May 1, 1954. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday school to children for over 20 years. She was also on the board of realtors, and was married to the mayor. She was an excellent first lady for 10 years, and especially enjoyed the Coshocton Canal Days celebration. Helen was very serious about Canal Day and made her own dress for the celebration for 10 years. She was a member of the Canal Quilters Guild and won several awards at the Coshocton County Fair for her beautiful quilts. Helen was a great cook and was famous for her lemon meringue pie. Helen was a loving and friendly person who never met a stranger and she will be missed by many.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Daniel Moody, and their children Daniel (Betsy) Moody and Debbie (Tim) Kelley. She is also survived by her siblings Forest Hicks, JW Hicks, Roby (Ruth) Hicks, Pete Hicks, Tommy (Bev) Hicks, Faye Honabarger, and Louise Lautenschleger. Helen is also survived by 7 grandchildren Daniel Nathan Moody, Zachary Lyle (Sara) Moody, Jessica Megan (Rebeca) Kelley, Paige Marissa Kelley, Lauren (Nic) Mallon, Austin LeBeau, and Carson LeBeau, as well as 5 great grandchildren Ava, Ella, Noah, Eli, and Gracee. Helen is also survived by her brother in law Larry (Deborah) Moody, sister in law Peggy Hagmaier, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Amy (Jim) Haynes, Ernestine (Roger) Miller, sisters in law Mary Hicks, Marlene Hicks, Marie Hicks, Margene Hicks, and brothers in law Edward Honabarger and Richard Lautenschleger.
Calling hours will be held at The Presbyterian Church on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Deb Quillen officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Fairview Cemetery in Fresno.
