Carol was born in Coshocton on August 24, 1961 to the late Daniel H. and Eleanor Marie (Simmons) Duren. She was a proud graduate of the Coshocton High School Class of 1979. For 15 years, Carol worked as a clerk and sorter at Goodwill. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Coshocton County Handicapped Society. Carol was the all-time winner of games at Riverside Manor; she was undefeated at trivia and bingo. Carol’s father always called her and her four siblings his little “kings and queens.” The Duren family is now short a little queen who will be very sorely missed.
Carol is survived by four siblings: Reneau Duren of Coshocton, Diane Marie Duren Literski (husband, Colin) of Cincinnati, Janice E. Duren-Manos (husband, Tom) of Richville, and Dan Duren of Roscoe; many nieces and nephews, her former care-giver, Ruth Parker of Roscoe, and all of her friends at Riverside Manor.
Along with her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Leslie Parker Duren.
A memorial service will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jonathan Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow at Adams Mills Cemetery. Calling hours will be held an hour prior to the memorial service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Duren family would like to thank everyone at Riverside Manor for all of their help and support over the years.
