Sara Garcia, age 71, entered Heaven's Gates on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Christus Spohn Hospital surrounded by her beloved family. Sara was born and raised in Laredo, Texas to the late Oswaldo and Francisca Garcia.
Sara was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend but to those that knew her best, she was an exceptional person. She was a beautiful and loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, as well as supportive member to her family. To her beloved family, she was the pillar of the family and was known as Big Chief. Sara was a character and an unmatched sense of humor. She was extremely creative and talented both in her kitchen cooking or baking and artistically. Her talents were seen in making jewelry and hand made crafts. She was known for her delicious tamales and pan de polvo.
She had many hobbies but her favorite pastime times included spending time with her family, watching her favorite vampire shows or scary movies and creating memorable pieces such as jewelry and wreaths. She loved to sing and was a huge fan of Christian, Mariachi and Old Spanish music. Sara’s loving personality, sense of humor and generous soul will be greatly missed. She leaves with all those who knew her many wonderful memories.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Fernando Leija, Oswaldo Leija, Luis (Perla) Leija, and Criselda Viera (Leo); her 24 grandchildren, Jaelyn, Nicole, Gilbert, Amanda, Aaron, Andrew, Cassandra, Jay, Alec, Blue, OZ, Charlotte, Danelle, Devin, Junior, Jasmin, Damon, Dylan, Genavie, Sergio, Michael, Esmi, Vada, Giorgio; 25 great grandchildren; siblings, Belia Alaniz, Oralia Gutierrez, Otila Yachimski, Ofelia Cevera and Alfonso Garcia, along with various extended family and friends.
Sara is reunited with her son, Sergio Leija; parents, Oswaldo and Francisca Garcia; and siblings, Orlando Garcia and Olivia Rodriguez.
Having the honor to serve as pallbearers are; Damon Leija, Dylan Leija, Giorgio Viera, Michael Gomez, Devin Leija, Sergio Leija, Jay Leija and Aaron Leija.
A visitation for Sara will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to Midnight at Funeraria Del Angel, with a Prayer Service being held at 7PM. Her visitation will continue on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a service being held at noon, with her interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery at 2:30.
