Ronald D. Stephenson

Ronald D. Stephenson, age 73, went to be with our Lord on March 30, 2012, in Corpus Christi, TX, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born November 13, 1938 in Portsmouth, OH to Alma and Pearl Stephenson.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and had retired from Corpus Christi Fire Dept. after 30 years of loyal service. Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who's memory will always be cherished by us.

He was always there for his family and he yielded a great pride for all his children. He was a successful and well known master artist and his work was viewed and appreciated all over the United States and Internationally. He spent his adult life cultivating his artistic talents and, along with the support of his family, exhibited his works in first class galleries and art shows nationwide. He was an “All State” basketball player in New Boston, Ohio and played basketball on a full scholarship at University of Tampa, (Florida). While serving in the US Navy he was the star player for the 8th Naval District and finished out his basketball career at Del Mar College.

Ron was preceded in death by his father: Pearl Stephenson, mother: Alma Howes, brother: Jerry Stephenson, Beloved in-laws: Domingo & Eloisa Benavides, Brother-in-laws: Alvaro & David Benavides, twin grandchildren: Justin and Ashley Stephenson.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Aurora Stephenson; children, Amanda Esparza (Oscar) Richmond, TX, Sandra Basile (Richard) Springfield, VA, Michael Stephenson Dague Army Base, South Korea; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

Family will be receiving family and friends on Thursday April 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Chapel.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday April 5, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
