He was born on September 21, 1940 to Roman Cervantes and Santa Esquivel in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He received his GED and served in the National Guard. His lifetime profession was a butcher meat cutter. He worked and retired from Sam Hausman Meat Company in May 2019. Raymond was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered for his devotion to protect and provide for his family. Raymond lived a quiet reserved life, he enjoyed watching football especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, often waging a bet here and there. Watching old movies was another favorite pastime. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy. He had a friendly personality, everyone knew him by his nickname “Sapo”.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Ramon Cervantes and Santa Esquivel; his son Roland Cervantes, his brothers, Thomas, Albert and Rudy Cervantes and great grandson, Luis Semaj White, III.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Minerva Cervantes and his daughters, Laurie Gonzales (Cesar) from San Antonio, TX and Patricia Cervantes-Martinez (Carlos) from Corpus Christi, TX, ten grandchildren: Andrea Benavidez, Roland and Aubry Cervantes, Angel Palacios, Leo Trevino, Jr. (Janie), Zachary L. Trevino (Marissa) Timothy Trevino, (Tiana), Janelle N. Bazaldua, Jenna E. Bazaldua (Kevin) and Jaclynn Bazaldua; eleven great-grandchildren, Nicolas D’aiden Benavidez, Joel, Marcos and Kristy Hernandez, Salysia E. and Zailee E. Trevino, Treyson K. Trevino, Makayla M. Nunez, Serenity R. Bazaldua Kyle M. and Kaliah G. Ferezan; three siblings, Santa Vasquez (Ruben) Mario Gudino (Maria) and Henry De Ases ( Maria) all from Corpus Christi, Texas.
A Visitation wil lbe held on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Memory Gardens Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Leonardo Trevino, Jr., Zachary Lee Trevino, Timothy Bradley Trevino, Rolando Cervantes, Joel Hernandez and Marcos Hernandez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Angel Palacios, Treyson Karter Trevino and KyleFerezan.
