He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Ramon retired from Centex Cement Corp. after 18 years of service and the City of Corpus Christi Gas Division after 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albino and Isabel Mota; sisters, Isabel Martinez, Josephine Mota and brother-in-law, Joe (Sonny) Olivares.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Emilia Mota; children, Roger (Tammy), Ramiro “Ram” (Lori), Rene (Cindy), Ruben (Dominique), Roland (Hope) and his one and only daughter, Sylvia (Alex) Garcia; step-son, Albert (Brenda) Coleman; special grandson, Roman “Bubba” Mota; who he shared a special bond with, during his golf and baseball lessons; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
His survivors include his siblings, Avelino (Priscilla), Ben (Gloria), Albino (Janie), Manuel (Aurelia) Mota, Ester Olivares, Amelia (Paul) Gutierrez, Julie (Joe) Cabrera and Elena (Joe) Lopez.
Family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of CV- ICU unit at Dr’s. Regional Hospital.
Honoring him as pallbearers are Esteban Chapa, Roman Mota, Christian Carrillo, Alexander Mota, Benny Mota, Gabriel Lopez; serving as honorary pallbearers are Ryan Mota, AJ Garcia and Ronan Mota.
Family will receive friends on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
