Otilia Y Garcia, age 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed from this life into the next on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born on the 3rd of June, 1934 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She brought warmth and affection to the lives of many. She had a great love for all animals and her favorite was a pup named Pino. Her favorite colors were hues of purple, blues, and florals. She enjoyed listening to The Beatles, and loved to do the “twist”. She enjoyed watching television and celebrity trials. She knew all the updated scoop of the celebrities and would spend days talking about them as if she personally knew them. "Apoco", was her favorite phrase.
Otilia is preceded in her journey by her husband Juan S. Garcia; her parents, Eleuterio Ybarra and Maria Rios Ybarra;sisters Petra Rodela, Beatrice Garza, Lupita Perez, Soltera Cardona; her brothers Eleuterio Ybarra and Ambrosio Ybarra.
Otilia is survived by her children Ester Garcia, Norma G. Riley(Fred), Janie Meza(Daniel), Eddie Garcia, Jesse Garcia; her sisters Anita Y. Santoya, Valentina Y. Aldrigetti; her grandchildren, Jessica Garcia, Ximena Garcia, Luciana Garcia, Mindy Meza, Danny Meza, Max Meza, Brianna Hall, Amy Hall, Amanda Delagado, Rick Delagado III, Donna Garcia, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Otilia will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A holy rosary and eulogy will occur Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 7:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
In the passing of Otilia Y. Garcia, her legacy lives on. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends. May her soul find eternal rest and tranquility.
Serving as pallbearers are Roland Castillo, Scott Winders, Stevie Becerra, Rick Delgado III, Jessie Garcia and Oscar Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers Joe Santoya, Richard Delgado IV, and Pino, the pup who will be escorting her into heaven’s gates June 13th, 2024.
Family would like to thank the staff at Opius Hospice for the comfort and love they showed our mom; Nurse Sarah and Nurse Stacy, Chaplin Hector Perez, and to the nurses and staff at The Palms Nursing Home; and daughter Norma Garcia Riley for the love and care she showed our mom and especially the sacrifice of making a trip down to Corpus as often as she did. A special thank you to her caregivers Anna Hernandez and Celina Winders for providing the utmost care, empathy, and love towards our mother during our most difficult time, we could not have done it without their help. Thank you to Linda Rodriguez her nursing home roommate for looking out for our mom, she was a god-sent.
