Mauro Daniel Martinez passed away on January 31, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born in Runge, TX on August 31, 1924 to the late Jose and Juanita Martinez. Mauro served in the U.S. Army and fought during WWII receiving a purple heart. He will be remembered for his generous and giving nature and was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, San Juana Martinez and daughter, Yolanda Silvas. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Martinez; 6 grandchildren, Fidel (Cinthia) Silvas, Tony (Angie) Silvas, Lisa (Bel) Silvas, Roland Fuentez Jr., Daniel (Ann) Fuentez and Michael Fuentez; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with services to be held at 7:00 pm that same evening. Chapel service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 am with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
