Maria Luisa Garcia, age 92, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 18, 2021. She was born in Harlingen, Texas on September 25, 1928 to Maria Conception Flores and Jose Villarreal. Luisa will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and her legacy of teaching them the meaning of unconditional love. She will be missed for all the joy and happiness she brought to each and every one of her family members. She was loved by so many.
Luisa is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Israel Garcia Sr.; son, Jose Garcia; son, Robert Garcia; son-in-law, Luis Alvarado Jr.; grandson, Christopher Aaron Alvarado; and granddaughter, Teresa Isabel Garcia.
Luisa leaves behind to cherish her memories, her son, Israel Garcia Jr.; daughter, Diana (Albert) Alaniz; daughter, Dalia (Rey) Tijerina; daughter, Debbie Alvarado; daughter, Sheila (Eric) Garcia; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lupe Cordero, Amparo Perez; along with extended family and many nieces and nephews.
Those with the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows: Jeremy Alaniz, Nathan Alaniz, Luis Alvarado III, Dominick Tijerina, Isiah Tijerina, Israel Garcia Jr., Julius Deloy, and Daniel Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be: Albert Alaniz, Pete Alaniz, Rey Tijerina, and Eric Stone.
Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Memory Gardens Chapel at 5:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited later that night at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10:00 am with Interment to follow immediately after at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family has requested that masks must be worn during the duration of all services. Services will also be available virtually through the Memory Gardens Facebook page.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debbie and Joe, Luisa’s hospice nurses for the extraordinary care they provided to her at all times.
