Maria was 103 years old and led a very active and happy life. Her greatest joy came from daily prayer and serving others. She was a very talented cook. She belonged to the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe and to the St. Jude Bible Study group for 35 years. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Crescencio Gaytan, a daughter, Esther Gaytan, a son, José Guadalupe Gaytan and a great grandson, Johnny Cortez.
She was survived by 5 daughters, Isabel Chavez, Mary M. Gaytan, Leonor Trevino(Luis), Carmen Castellano, Sylvia Garcia(Tony), and a son, Jesus Gaytan. Also by 18 grand children, 46 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
In addition, she is also survived by Margarita Munoz and her 2 children, who are very dear to her and are considered a part of her family.
Maria has many dearly beloved friends, who are very loyal to her and have been very supportive during her illness with prayers, and visits. Their friendship warmed her heart.
Maria Gaytan received Gentiva Hospice Services. Their staff members were very supportive during the last 16 months of her life.
A visitation for Maria will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. A rosary will occur Monday, November 18, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Corpus Christi, 549 Cheyenne St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 540 Hiawatha St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405. A burial will occur Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX.
