Marco graduated from North Dallas High School and received his bachelors at Texas A&M Kingsville. Marco worked and had a career at CARE in Kleberg and was a Junior High Coach for Kingsville ISD. He was a member of Monte Sinai Christian Church of Robstown, Texas and was a Sigma Chi fraternity brother. He had a passion for coaching, teaching, telling jokes and creating memories with his family.
Marco preceded in death by his parents, Lazaro and Maria Guadalupe Contreras. He is survived by his wife, Victoria M. Contreras; his children, Gabriela Isabel Mendoza and David Brian Mendoza; his sister, Michelle (John) Schaefer of Alice, Texas; his brothers, Rudy (Susana) Contreras of Dallas, Texas and Larry (Sandra) Contreras of The Colony, Texas; his band of brothers, Fabian Carr, Juan Moreno, Vince Solis, and Ashley Moore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marco loved his Kingsville Brahma and Dallas Cowboys teams. He was a die-hard fan. You would find him every weekend watching football. He loved his brother’s, sister and family dearly...But most of all he loved his wife and children. Nothing was more important than them. He loved his football family as well. He had many friends not only in the community but in different parts of the state. He was a proud godfather of two, who were the light of his world. Marco was a teacher and a proud coach for 20 years. He will be missed by many, but forgotten by none. I leave you with his favorite saying “Love, peace, and chicken grease...y hasta la próxima si Dios quiere.”
