Lorraine Hale Sanchez

Lorraine Hale Sanchez, 89 years young, went to be with our Lord and Savior, on Thursday, November 9, 2017, quietly in her sleep, with her loving daughter at her bedside. She had been ill the previous four months in New Hampshire; complications from a bad fall. Lorraine began her journey back home to Texas on November 1st, and was looking forward to enjoying some time in the sun. She fell ill four days later, and went home to be with her loving Father, and Lord Jesus Christ, shortly thereafter. She lived a truly blessed life, and was faithful in thanking God everyday for His countless Blessings. She was born on March 11, 1928, in Alice, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Petra Hale, brother Jesse Hale, and her beloved granddaughter, Afton Ashley Perea. Lorraine leaves behind her loving husband and companion of 40 years, Ernest Sanchez, her sons and daughters, Eddie, Emilio, Ernie, Leonard, Lisa, Lori, and Lynn, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and lifelong friends — the wonderful family she and Ernest both created that transcends bloodlines. Lorraine worked for HUD, and at the Nueces County Courthouse, as a Legal Secretary for many years. Her life is best characterized by devotion — primarily to her faith, which defined and inspired her unending love and selflessness to her family and friends. One way to measure a person’s impact in life is understanding the effect they have had on other peoples’ lives, the ones that they have loved, and the ones that have loved them. In that regard, and in many others, Grandma Lorraine lived an amazing life. She loved and was deeply loved. But second to her saintly disposition, was her great sense of humor, which endeared her to all those around her. Her sarcasm was unmatched, and it would always get a laugh. And when she wasn’t busy being a supportive mother, cooking breakfast for grandkids, or getting a rise out of her friends, she was traveling the world with her husband, dancing and laughing the night away. Grandma Lorraine was faithful, honest, giving, kind, and selfless, and instilled those traits to those around her, especially her grandchildren. To say that she was a good role model is a disservice to her memory, as she was, and always will be, the definition of what a grandmother - and person - should strive to be. She hated seeing others in pain, and would always say she wished she could switch places if you were hurt. She was always the life of the party; a true social butterfly. Lorraine will be remembered in our hearts as a faithful, beautiful, empathetic, kind, funny, sharing, and extremely loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. Memorial services will be held at Del Angel Funeral Home on Sunday, November 12, 2017, Rosary will be recited at 7 PM, and mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 13th, at 2 PM at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
