Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on December 1, 1939, to Roy
Amos Kelly and Laveta Lavon Mitchell Kelly in Picher, Oklahoma.
Lynne spent her early years raised by her parents and then moved to
Sand Springs Home after her parents passed away.
Lynne graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, OK
in 1957. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK,
and also studied Nursing at Brown University in Providence, RI. Lynne
received her Bachelor of Arts from Langston University in Tulsa, OK in
1985 and a Master of Public Health in 1989 at the University of
Oklahoma, Health Science Center and Master in Health Care
Administration in 1997 at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, TX.
Lynne worked in the Retail Board of Trade in Shawnee, OK, and San
Diego, CA from 1958 to 1968 and an Assembly worker from
1968-1970 at Western Electric in Oklahoma City, OK before getting
into the Medical Field where she worked as a Nursing Assistant from
1970-1979 at Rhode Island State Hospital in Cranston, RI and
Phoenix Baptist Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Lynne then began her work
as a Medical Secretary with Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New
York, NY 1977-1979 and Civil Service from 1980-1988 at Navy and
VA Hospitals. From 1993-2012, Lynne worked as a Medical
Transcriptionist at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, Scottsdale, AZ, St.
Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK, Doctors Regional, and Spohn Hospital
in Corpus Christi, TX, and Carondelet Hosptial in Tucson, AZ, and a
Contract Transcriptionist working at home, clinics and hospitals at
various locations. Lynne also taught Medical Transcription, Medical
Records, English, and Health Sciences at the Arizona Institute of
Business Technology in 1990 and Del Mar College in Corpus Christi,
TX in 1997, and Tulsa Community College in 2001.
Lynne loved the Arts; she loved photography, she loved to paint with
watercolors and oils. She enjoyed sewing clothing and quilts as well
as knitting, embroidery, and crocheting and always working on a new
project. She loved music, playing percussion in her younger years.
She enjoyed the Theater and performed in a couple of plays while
living in Providence, RI, and New York, NY. Lynne enjoyed politics
and worked on several Campaign Committees throughout the years.
Lynne also loved to travel, explore new places, and spending time
with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Juanita Lynne Kelly was preceded in death by her mother, Loveta
Lavon Mitchell Kelly on December 12, 1945, and her father, Roy
Amos Kelly on July 24, 1951, and her brother, Herbert Seigel Kelly on
April 24, 2012.
Juanita Lynne Kelly is survived by her two children, Kenneth Wayne
Taylor (Dita) of Brno, Czech Republic, Gina Lynne Taylor Scott
(David) of Corpus Christi, TX, and her sister, Ann Babbitt of San Tan
Valley, AZ, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several
nieces and nephews.
