He was born on September 17, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Blanche Day and Leonard Fagan. His wife, Mary Virginia Almaguer was the love of his life. They were married for 59 years.
John was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He served in the US Marine Corp Reserves and the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Block Island CVE-106. He was a long time member of the Corpus Christi Patriots Band and Honor Guard.
John was preceded in death by his son, Michael J. Fagan.
Left behind to cherish his memory , his loving wife, Mary Virginia (Almaguer) Fagan; his children, Bobbie Joe Sawyer, Robert E. Sawyer, Deborah (Arnold) Zuniga and Mary (Frank) Bishop; sisters, Winnifred Miller, Betsy Fagan and brother, Leonard (Fran) Fagan. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Major Salvador M. (Lucy) Zuniga, SGT Stephen M. Zuniga, CPT Robert Sawyer, Robyn(Craig)S. Jennings, Stacy Russell and Stephanie Bishop; great-grandchildren, Tyler Pizzuti, Lucien J. Zuniga, Ava and Kamren Russell and numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Uncle Jack.
Public visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park with military honors.
