Joe was raised in Birmingham, Houston, and Corpus Christi. Joe graduated from WB Ray High School in 1956 and later attended Baylor where he played football as a Freshman and then went on to SMU where he graduated with a degree in Business.
His most noteworthy marriages were to Toy Mason, with whom he had two daughters, and to Patricia Heflin with whom he had one son. Joe spent most of his career as a business owner with an entrepreneurial spirit. There were endeavors in hamburger franchises, grocery stores, and produce distribution that spanned several decades.
Joe's hobbies centered around hunting and football. Later in life Joe attended First Baptist Church on Ocean Drive in Corpus Christi, which gave him much enjoyment. Joe will always be remembered for his love of his Callaghan Ranch deer lease on the Labor pasture, his Cadillacs, Nuevo Laredo, and the La Posada Hotel. His sense of humor and cussing ability were hard to beat.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joe Lloyd Brown, Sr., and Madlyn Clyde Brown, and his younger brother James Russell Brown. He is survived by his brother Bob Brown and wife Nancy, his sister Martha Kiel and husband Greg; daughters Cindy Brown and Madlyn Brown Constant, and son Michael Brown; his 6 grandchildren Mallory Yarto, Madlyn Margaret Constant, Audrey Constant, Ava Constant, Dylan Brown, Amelia Brown; and one great granddaughter, Mickey Yarto.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Seaside Park and Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas, on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
