Janice Doughty (Coach Doughty), 63, of Corpus Christi, went to join the heavenly choir on August 30, 2019. Janice graduated from W.B. Ray High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, VFW Post #3079 and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She had a passion for all sports as a competitor, coach and spectator. She loved music, singing in her church choir and playing the viola. She also loved animals and was never without a pet.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Doughty and father, Walter Doughty; maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her mother of 53 years, Virginia Doughty; brothers, Jerry Kime, Dennis Kime, Chip Doughty, and Nathan (Betsy) Kime; sister, Marilyn Doughty; her beloved niece and nephew, Courtney (Jeff) Hanson and Dan Dailey; the lights of her life, great nephews and niece Jackson, Lucas and Ella Hanson and Nate Dailey.
She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were like family. And last, but not least, her fur babies, Macy and Buster.
Janice’s chosen career was coaching and teaching and she loved every moment. She was very proud of starting the alternative high school in Mathis, Texas. She had a positive impact on so many people. Janice never met a stranger and treated all she met as a friend. She was a strong and independent woman. She had a huge heart and so very generous. Always putting others before herself. Her beautiful blue eyes, smile and laughter will be in our hearts forever.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 20190 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Fellowship Hall, 900 Shoreline Blvd.
