Juanita “Jane” Martinez Garza entered eternal life on July 14, 2012. She was born in San Angelo, Texas on January 30, 1943 to Celestino O. and Mary Lou G. Martinez. She grew up in Harlingen, Texas and in 1955, along with her family, moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.
Jane’s passion for serving God was demonstrated through her service as a Bible study leader within the Nueces Martineau Juvenile Detention Center, Nueces County Jail and the Bill Glass Prison Ministries.
She is survived by her husband, Honorio Garza, three daughters, Monica (Amadeo) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Veronica (Richard) Johnson of Cottonwood, Idaho, Margo Olivares of Sugarland, Texas, four grandchildren, Amadeo Joel Rodriguez, Jeremy Nathaniel Olivares, Samantha Lee Johnson, and Francesca Lee Johnson, her sister, Josephina (Joe) Perez, two brothers, Robert (Ada) Hernandez, Manuel (Yolanda) Flores, as well as nephews and nieces.
The family will be receiving friends and family from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Memory Gardens, 8200 Old Brownsville Road. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following visitation. Burial will be private with family members only.
Special thanks to the care providers and medical staff involved in the outstanding care demonstrated towards Jane and to all of our friends and family for the loving support we have received during this difficult time.
