Guadalupe V. Martinez

Guadalupe V. Martinez, 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 15, 2022. She was born in Harlingen, Texas on January 31, 1948. She graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School. She then received her LVN II certification from Del Mar College.

Lupe had a career in Nursing at Spohn Hospital for 23 years. She was a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. She had a passion for shopping, traveling, fishing, tending to her garden, spending time with her grand children, and watching her Houston Astros. She was preceded in death by her parents; Consuelo and Benito Villanueva; sisters; Eulalia (Lupe) Cantu, Julia (Henry) Humada, and sister-in-law; Olivia Reyna.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years; Ruben Martinez Sr.; children; Monica Lynn Medrano (Bobby Gibson) of Corpus Christi, and Ruben (Joann) Martinez Jr. also of Downers Grove, IL; grandsons; Frankie Medrano IV (Roxanne Ory), Patrick Lorenzo Medrano, Aaron Jacob Martinez, and Joshua Ruben Martinez; great grandson; Jose Ory Martinez; great granddaughter; Ameliah Medrano (coming on March 10, 2022); thirteen fur grandbabies; Huck, Poppy, Sophie, Penny, KC, Asher, Duke, Belle, Samson, Celine, Elliott, Luna, and Oliver; siblings; Ralph (Meri) Villanueva of Hurst, TX, Ramiro (Pinki) Villanueva of Austin, TX, Ruben Villanueva of San Antonio, TX, Mary (Margarito) Gutierrez of San Antonio, Margie Limon of San Antonio, TX, Benita (Rick) Mata of Odem, TX, Adela (Jesse) Ybarra of Kingsville, TX, and Beatrice (Ruben) Carrion of Cibolo, TX; brothers-in-law; Pascual (Yolanda) Martinez of Alice, TX and Abelino (Adriana) Martinez of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law;Dora (Pedro) Leal of Joliet, IL, and Ester (Ray) Ramos of Houston, TX; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was strong, beautiful, caring, and a loving soul and will be greatly missed.

A public visitation for Guadalupe will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. Following the public visitation will be a celebration of life at 1:30 PM.
