He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, July 27, 1937. He was raised in Kingsville by his maternal grandparents, Sabastian and Paulita Alvarez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen Flores; six children, Elizabeth Gonzales (Tomas), David E. Flores (Leticia), Mary I. Flores (Ramon), Gracie Flores Ortiz, Sandra Flores (Luciano) and Debra Flores; five grandchildren, who he helped raise, John Eric Flores, Robert Duenes,- Jr., Guadalupe Emilio Salamon, Sabastian Adan Salamon, Maricella Carmen Rodriguez; twelve other grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Diana Medina; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparent, Sabastian and Paulita Alvarez; mother, Anita Salinas; father, Guadalupe Flores, Sr.; brother, Jesus Alvarez; and sister, Sylvia Moreno.
He served in the United States Air Force in 1954 to 1957. He also served as a Police Officer in the Corpus Christi Police Department from 1973 to 1996. He retired as a Sergeant, his friends knew him as “The Old Man”. Guadalupe was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be missed by everyone that knew him especially his family.
Visitation will begin on, February 18, 2010 at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with an evening service to be held at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, Friday, February 19, at 10:00 a.m., at Funeraria Del Angel Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, immediately following service.
