Gonzalo possessed a strong work ethic and was passionate of his carpentry trade. He was a dedicated and loyal employee for over 20 years and was able to enjoy retirement from Coastal States Refinery since 1992. In his retirement years, he enjoyed volunteering at Christus-Spohn Memorial Hospital and playing pool with his friends at Greenwood and Broadmoor Park Senior Centers.
Additionally, he was a huge baseball fan and was known for his good humor and jokes.
Gonzalo leaves his memories to his loving wife of 68 years, Maria R. Gonzalez; children, Joe (Irma) Gonzalez, Diana (Sam) Gonzalez and Margot (Donovon) Villarreal; grandchildren, Vanessa Gonzalez, Valerie Gonzalez, Victoria Gonzalez and Selina Lo (Richard); great-grandchildren, Rebecca Lo, Lucia Lo, Augustine Lo and Alexa Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
