Elizabeth Rose Cervantes

Elizabeth Rose Cervantes, Age 71, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully Friday, May 3rd, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Robstown, Texas on March 31,1953. Elizabeth graduated from WB Ray HS and received a nursing degree from Del Mar College. She married the love of her life, Gilbert Cervantes, on February 18,1970. They were happily married for 35 years until his passing in 2005. Elizabeth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend. Those who knew her, treasured their time together.

Elizabeth served as a school nurse for CCISD for 26 years until her retirement in 2009. Before that she served the community as a nurse at Osteopathic Hospital and then Thomas Spann Hospital. She was a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church since 1986. She loved God and lived a faith filled life. You could always count on her prayers and words of encouragement. She had a genuine love for others and everyone felt welcomed and cared for in her presence. Throughout her nursing career, she created close bonds and friendships with co-workers that became like family. Her huge loving heart drew others in and she always put them first. Elizabeth had a passion for music, movies, and pop culture. She loved to share celebrity news with family and friends, go to the movies, and listen to music on her record player. Most of all, she loved spending time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren. She could light up any room with her smile and good nature.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosa D. Garcia and Pete Basaldu, her step-father Gilberto Garcia, and her husband, Gilbert Cervantes. She is survived by her children; Gilbert (Jessica) Cervantes of Boerne, TX, Marc (Lisa) Cervantes, Gregg Cervantes, Garry (Alexandrea) Cervantes, and Jacqueline (Jacob) Mondragon, all of Corpus Christi. Grandchildren: Alexis Cervantes, Alissa Cervantes, Gregg Cervantes, Daniel Cervantes, Alex Cervantes, Ella Cervantes, Alayna Cervantes, Noah Cervantes, Olivia Cervantes, Gabriella Cervantes, Lucy Cervantes, Jacob R. Mondragon, and Elizabeth Mondragon. One great grandchild: Lily Cervantes. Her brother, Gilbert (Nora) Garcia Jr. of Corpus Christi, step-sisters, Sylvia Contreras of Las Vegas, Nevada and Anita Garcia of Corpus Christi, and one Step-brother: Juan (Angie) Garcia, of Corpus Christi. Also numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who dearly loved her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel-Everhart, 4901 Everhart Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78411, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Dr., Corpus Christi, TX. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her sons, Marc Cervantes, Gregg Cervantes, and Garry Cervantes and her grandsons, Gregg Cervantes, Daniel Cervantes, Alex Cervantes, Noah Cervantes, and Jacob Ryan Mondragon.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Mirador Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the staff of PAM Rehabilitation Center, and the staff of Angel Bright Hospice for the love and care provided to our mother during her time of need.
