Dorothy moved to Corpus Christi in the late 1940’s. She was employed by the Caller-Times where she met her husband William Walker Nesbitt. They were divorced in 1969 but remained friends. During the late 1960’s she worked for the Suicide Prevention Hotline. She was a volunteer for Lost Pet Hotline which she continued supporting until her early 80’s.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William Daner Cox, and her dear companion, Marian Parker.
Survivors include her sons, Steve Nesbitt (Janice) of Houston, David Nesbitt (Nancy) of Corpus Christi, grandchildren Michele Roth, Crista Rodriguez, Heather Nesbitt of Corpus Christi and Michael Nesbitt of Houston, and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Gulf Coast Humane Society or St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
